Please note that VITA appointments will be unavailable from October 16 to February 2 and again from April 16 to May 18 due to tax system updates. "Off-season" returns will be processed from May 19 through October 15.
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)
The VITA tax program is funded by grants from the State of Oregon. The grant allows the United Way of Jackson County and TMAC to hire tax professionals and assist community members (English and Spanish) tax preparation. The grant funds the building, computers, software and all other necessary items to organize and file tax returns.
In 2025 (for the tax year 2024) the VITA program processed over 1,500 returns that resulted in over $1.5 million dollars in refunds back to community members. We understand tax filings can be scary and cause anxiety. This service is designed to assist anyone in the community to use the service as long as you qualify.

What if I don’t qualify?
Household income more than $67,000 but less than $100,000 can submit tax returns using our FSA service.
Facilitated Self Assistance (FSA) still offers FREE filings. However, you would be the one to prepare your own filing using Turbo Tax.
We still pay the filing fees for you
We provide a computer, printer and the turbo tax software.
We have professionals on site to help answer questions.
Time and space are limited. You still need to sign up for an FSA appointment. Because it’s a self guided filing, FSA appointments are 2 hours instead of 1.
