Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)

United Way of Jackson County and TMAC proudly offer free tax preparation services through the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Our IRS-certified volunteers provide safe, reliable, and confidential tax help to eligible community members in both English and Spanish.

In 2025, our program helped prepare more than 1,500 tax returns, bringing over $1.5 million in refunds back to local families and individuals.

Please note that VITA appointments will be unavailable from October 16 to February 2 and again from April 16 to May 18 due to tax system updates. "Off-season" returns will be processed from May 19 through October 15.

What if I don’t qualify?

Household income more than $67,000 but less than $100,000 can submit tax returns using our FSA service.

Facilitated Self Assistance (FSA) still offers FREE filings. However, you would be the one to prepare your own filing using Turbo Tax.

  • We still pay the filing fees for you

  • We provide a computer, printer and the turbo tax software.

  • We have professionals on site to help answer questions.

Time and space are limited. You still need to sign up for an FSA appointment. Because it’s a self guided filing, FSA appointments are 2 hours instead of 1.

FSA Appointments are held at: United Way Office from February to June. 60 Hawthorne St., Medford.  get directions
